No better substitute for bravery than sheer ignorance
I've been working on the site quite a bit lately, things should be basically finished now. There's a calendar which will help us plan our trip and everyone else to follow the day-to-day events. I've put up a map so that we can put in lines, placemarks and all sorts of the random trophies that makes the internet worth visiting.
I'm reading "Long Way Around" which recounts Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's motorcycle trip from London to New York via Siberia. It's a great read, but it makes me start to understand exactly how unprepared we are for the second portion of the trip. Neither Erin or I are riders. I've ridden a scooter couple of times, and she has never . There is no better substitute for bravery than sheer ignorance. That should pretty much be the motto of our trip.
On the other hand, it reminds me that people still help each other and don't look askance at strangers in need. I will be that stranger in need at some time and it's comforting to remember the times in the past when I was helped by someone who wanted nothing more than to boost their karma points for the day. It's genuine and it's great.
