It's finally happening...

We are finally in Zanzibar! After all the planning and waiting and saving...we are finally enjoying the beautiful island of Zanzibar. Our super economy flight on Condor Air wasn't so bad. They had the old school flip down movie screens so everyone got to watch the same movie or for those that were awake, episodes of the Nanny. That is only if you bought the headphones for 6.50euro. Which we didn't, so we entertained ourselves.

We are staying at Kendwa Rocks in Kendwa. It is a quieter beach town south of Nungwi on the northern tip of the island. The sand is white the ocean wonderful shades of blue to green. It tends to change as the tide comes in. This is my first experience with the Indian Ocean and I give it two thumbs up. So far, no sunburn or for those that may have experienced vacation with me in a sunny climate, NO BUMPs. For the rest of you, apparently I am semi-allergic to the sun. So I am a very happy girl. The people are so nice. Tomorrow we head to Stone Town for a spice tour and a change of setting. So far we have been pretty unmotivated to do much other then eat, sleep, drink, read, and swim. And I LOVE IT!!!

Echo that!  I love it too.  The sitting on the beach, drinking a beer for breakfast because there's no reason not too.  Our motivation levels are at all time lows and I'm pretty sure that will continue until we leave Kendwa.  There's something about a beach cabana that takes all energy from me.  So tomorrow we will return to Stone Town so that perhaps we can actually do more than relax.  All this relaxing is just too much.  Our one venture from Kendwa was a failed attempt to walk to Nungwi.  We made it about 10 minutes (out of a 30 minute walk) before weurned around and headed back.  The sun ... it just... I don't know... takes my desire to do anything other than sip frosty beverages. Side note: We put up a couple of pictures from our time in Kendwa.  Can't put up too many because this lightning fast African internet couldn't quite handle it.  I don't want to take down the entire internet cafe, so I figured I'd only put a few up. Hey guys!   Your website is so cool!  You are going to have several envious people back here in KC after they look at all of the beautiful pictures you have captured.  I can only imagine what it must be like to see everything in person.  I will continue to check in to see what wild and crazy things you two are up to.  Until then, take care and travel safe! -Lindsey
