Ode to flying!

I did it, I finally jumped out of a plane! I may be too chicken to jump off a bridge or do a gorge swing, but now I can say I jumped out of a plane at 10,000ft over the Namib Desert in you guessed it...Namibia, Skawkopmund to be exact. It was the best rush ever. After being postponed for a day I was a bit anxious. Yesterday morning, 8 of us rode out to the airport. There was a bit of nervous tension in the air which led to 10am beers. Only one of course, I didn't want to get sick. We went up in the very tiny plane two jumpers at a time. Todd and i were in the third group, so we were able to watch the small specks fall from the plane and plummet through the sky at crazy fast rates. That part of waiting was worse then the scenic plane ride over the desert. At that point i was ready or so I thought until the lady before me, she was a student, threw her body out the plane door. I may have let a couple of profanities slip from my lips as my instructor basically pushed me to the edge of the door. "Feet under the plane, head back, smile..." and we were plummeting to earth. Awesome, crazy, fabulous feeling. Not that sick stomach drop you get from roller coasters. It was unbelievably, indescribably, superb! And then...the shoot opened and we drifted through the sky like birds. I want to go hang gliding even more after experiencing the lightness of gliding through the air. After a perfect landing, sore cheeks from smiling, and a cold beer I had a ton of adrenaline rushing through my body. I wanted to go again and again! Simply awesome!
