Going to the Jungle....

So we've spent a quiet couple of days here in La Paz. Can't say it's the prettiest of cities, but it's pretty good. The entire city was shut down for the All Saints Holiday here. We actually made a decent attempt to leave town today, but it didn't quite work out that way. We heard about a boat tour leaving up to Rurrenabaque, which is the place where we're organizing a tour into the pampas and jungle. But, of course, the agency was closed for the holiday. As was everything else in the city. So we decided to push everything back a day and try to get on this tour, but it ended up not really making sense with the expense of the tour and what we wanted to do, so now we're mentally preparing for a 22 hour bus ride to Rurrenabaque which has been described as the worst bus ride ever by some experienced travellers, especially as it passes over the world's most dangerous road. Sounds fun, right? Although to be fair, I think there's a new road that the buses now use that's much safer.

We're planning on hitting the Amazon jungle for the next couple weeks. If things work out, we'll be taking a slow boat from Rurrenabaque to Riberalta, down the Beni River, then bus over to Gayaramerin and then up to Trinidad via the Mamore River. Maybe. It'll probably change, honestly, but hey, we have to make some plans so that we can abandon them later.

Does that mean you're going to be out of internet for the next few weeks? What am I supposed to do? I hate when this happens. I check the blog and nothing... my email... nothing. Watch out for piranhas and have a great time. I hear it's an awesome trip. Your lonely and abandoned sister, Love, Lisa

I don't know about the internet connection in the jungle.  But given that it's pretty bad and spotty in La Paz, I'm guessing it'll be even worse there.  We'll do what we can. P.S. You are not abandoned.  We just went xmas shopping for you, so maybe that'll cheer you up.
