From Taxco to Puerto Escondido
Well, today is Saturday, April 25th. We left Cuernavaca on the 21st by way of an uneventful Estrella Blanca bus ride to Taxco.

Hiking through the hills of this city is something I remember as difficult and exhausting. Apparently I remembered correctly, because I was immediately heaving draughts of air, trying to find our hotel.

We actually never found the hotel that we were looking for, but we did manage to find the hotel that was right next to the place we were looking for. We actually didn't realize we weren't staying in the recommended hotel until the next day when we tried to take an "alternate entrance" which happened to be an entrance into a hotel we weren't staying at. But not a worry, the place was great.

We had our own little balcony with a view over the street, where we could get a couple of beers and watch the huge thunderstorm rage, tire, rage and retire. Huge drops of water, I could've sworn I saw hail at one point.
We didn't actually do to much in Taxco, but then there isn't too much to do, really. We looked at a lot of silver. It was as if every store was a boat, and in each boat were rows and rows of silver things from braclets to necklaces, cutlery to chessboards (of solid silver). Then, you exit the boat you're currently in and realize that you're in a marina that stretches from horizon to horizon, full of boats of different shapes, sizes, quality and quantity.

The only thing you really have to do is wander and shop. Depending on your disposition, that is either Port Heaven or Port Hell. I will let you guess where I found myself. It was at the bar.
From Taxco we took a 4 hour bus ride to Acapulco, where we were going to connect to Puerto Escondido. We arrived around noon, and our bus was leaving at 11pm. So we had a wonderful 11 hours exploring Acapulco. I'm pretty sure there are some fun things to do, like dancing and partying and spinning in circles until the sun rises, but I think that 11 hours in Acapulco was just about enough for me. We were getting fairly hungry by the evening. Or I should say, I was getting hungry. So I ate one of my favorite meals. I had 7 tacos, 5 with a mix of chorizo and beef, and then 2 just beef. Tiny tortillas, less than 3 inches across, filled with meat, onion, cilantro, lime and green salsa. It was at a kitchen on wheels outside the bus station, we sat on small plastic chairs and ate off of Styrofoam. It just doesn't get much better than that. 28 pesos of yum. I would probably pay $28 for that in states and think it's absolutely worth it.
So we caught our overnight bus from Acapulco to Puerto Escondido, where we're currently at. 8 hours long, but it really wasn't that bad. The seats are remarkably comfortable. I got to watch Transformers on the TV, which I can't really complain about since I love that movie. We arrived around 8am, shared a taxi with an Aussie to the hostel. We thought it was a little pricey, so we went on a wild goose chase for a place to pop our tent. In the morning before Erin's had her coffee, that is a terrible idea. She pulled through like a champ, of course, but there may have been a sour demeanor on her face throughout the search. We ended up back at the original hostel and had a great day chilling on the beach, walking around, watching the surfers, and just generally relaxing. It's the first time we've had to just be still and quiet. I'm ready to take advantage of it.
