I’m in tulum right now. I’ve seen the ruins, which looked over a good looking girl nuding it in the blue sea. The water was amazingly blue. Nice place. Tomorrow I get to go scuba diving in some caves, so that should be a good time.
Last time I left you, I was in campeche, i believe. From there I went to mérida, passing by uxmal. I’m told it’s an amazing place, but I was tired, and i’ve seen about a gagillion ruins. Spent the night in progreso, where there where about no places to stay do to the junior olimpics being held there. I ended up staying in a guy’s house for 10 bucks. He talked to me for over 20 minutes about how amazing uxmal was. I went to eat.
Next day,I went to merida, bought a gigantic hammock for 25 bucks. This is a HUGE hammock. I was laying in it perpendicular, and I could still fold it over me like a blanket. I.E. it’s over 12 feet wide. It can supposedly hold up to 800 kg, or as the salesman put it, “a fat one, a thin one, yourself, and a whole lot a fun”
Then I went to valladolid, where I launched myself off of a 26m (85ft) cliff into some water. it hurt. BUT… i got the picture. And then, a family asked me to do it again because they didn’t catch the first one. I made them count how long I fell and how long I was underwater. they said 6 seconds falling and 14 seconds underwater. I’m a bit doubtful of their counting ability, but hey, why not?
Turns out I ripped my athlectic shorts in the fall. So, i take my handy hack repair kit, lent from leigh, get some thread from a nice little girl, and board a bus. Well, let me tell you, a bus is no place to sew. I think I spent a half hour threading the needle. But i got it. Started to sew, best of my ability without killing myself on a fricking needle. Then, we started to drive through a rain storm. Normally, you think, hey, bus, dry, right? nope. This bus had some leaks in it. It was steadly raining in the bus. I’m sewing, the men around me are looking at me, “What do you think you’re doing? Don’t you know we have women for that?” the women are looking at me, “What are you doing, trying to steal our job from us?”
So then, they let me out, as I had to make a bus change. Unfortunately, I wasn’t finished sewing. Neither was the rain. So, Todd sits down on the side of the street in the middle of the downpour with his needle and thread to sew and wait for the bus to pass. I received even worse looks then.
Finally, I reach the island holbox. It’s a nice place. I didn’t do anything. I take that back, the first day I bought food, a four liter jug of Orange Juice and layed in my hammock all day. I also spent two hours trying to weave a mat to sit on out of some rope, as I didn’t have one. Let me tell you, that’s tough. I finally got something out that looks kinda like a mat a grog the barbarian wouldn’t use. But it worked. I finished, tested it out for a couple of seconds, then returned to the hammock. the second day, the hammock. I got sick from drinking so much OJ. But hey, that’s ok, right? Vale la pena. (it’s worth it)
I’ll let y’all go now,
